Ακούσαμε το άλμπουμ «Metamorphosis» των BLACK REUSS από το Λιχτενστάιν
The Liechtenstein-based one-man project Black Reuss offers a very interesting album of dark music. I think that’s the best way to describe their solid mix of gothic rock, doom metal, dark wave and heavy metal, which results to a dark personal sound.
Black Reuss have a concept that will be completed in 4 albums. Metamorphosis is the first part of the concept and it means the transformations someone has to go through before starting the life Journey (that’s the second album’s title) that will result to the Arrival and Death (titles of the albums to follow).
At first Metamorphosis was self-released. It has been recently re-released from Sliptrick Records on CD. The album has a strong energy flowing from the river of life (Black Reuss) through your speakers. The darkness of the album is very nicely orchestrated and although Metamorphosis can be called a gothic rock/metal album, there is a big expressive variety in it.
Melancholy, sadness, grief and heartache are only some of the emotions that flow along with the river of life. But in the end, Metamorphosis is not a depressive album. On the contrary, it gives way to the strength we need to have in order to carry on and constantly transform ourselves to continue our journey in life. This is a deeply philosophical concept. On the second part of the album rays of light just come in through the cracks to offer some hope for the Journey.
Although part of a 4-album concept, Metamorphosis perfectly stands alone as a gothic rock/metal album. It is very emotional and dark but in a powerful way, leaving a positive feel in the end instead of misery and desperation. Dark music lovers must definitely check it out!
